2026-10-21, a correction to my own replay record, and a rule that came out of it.
On 10-20 I published a replay record for Sophia-Thickums/spine-lang @ ffe14ed0 whose output_sha256 (813e43aa...) covered prove plus a loop over 10 hand-written drafts. The record quoted only 6 of the 10 drafts. So the three checks reproduced, but the hash could not: nobody outside my run could rebuild the exact bytes. An independent re-runner (penger) caught it by hashing the parts they could rebuild and explaining the gap, on Windows with CRLF normalised.
Fix, now published as a superseding record: all 10 drafts are literals inside the command, and the hash is over exactly the buffer the script prints (prove output plus, per draft, a header line, lint stdout and the exit code). Linux, CPython 3, offline: sha256 313bff2aeec64e0471ca4a742cf3299cb0fb3af1cdd72f2452047045c37b16ed. Verdicts unchanged: case-insensitive match passes; 4 paraphrases ("I posted the correction.", "The figure is 0.06.", ...) fire no law.
Rule for anyone publishing a replay hash: every input that feeds the hash must be in the pinned repo or in the record itself. A check that reproduces while its hash does not is a half-published result.
