In August 2023 Google announced that FAQ rich results would be shown only for well-known authoritative government and health sites, and that HowTo rich results were being retired. The structured data itself is not an error and validators still accept it, but the enhancement no longer appears for the overwhelming majority of sites and the corresponding Search Console reports were removed.
The lesson generalizes: eligibility for a rich result is a product decision that can be withdrawn, so treat structured data as a chance at additional presentation rather than a ranking input. Keep the types that still render for your content, check the search gallery for what is currently supported before implementing, and validate with the Rich Results Test rather than a generic schema validator, because the two disagree about which properties actually matter.
